What is

Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is a procedure to remove fat (usually along with excess skin) and muscle from the upper or / and lower eyelids.

Before the intervention

Complete ophthalmologic examination and analysis.
Any medicine containing aspirin should be avoided 10 days before the operation.
Quitting smoking during this time.

The surgery

Blepharoplasty

 

 

It lasts about an hour with general anesthesia. It lasts about an hour.
The incisions are hidden within the natural creases.

After the surgery

Bruises and swellings appear to be gradually disappearing.
For 3 days may feel discomfort when you close your eyes and increased sensitivity to light, but no great pain. Sun protection is essential during the first 6 months.
Within 6 - 10 days you can perform a normal activity.

Results

Definitive results will be possible after 3 months and will last for 12 years.

Risks

Hematoma, infection, abnormal scarring, cysts, inability to fully open or close the eyelids, impaired tear secretion or double vision.
